To SCABPsi Members and Friends,
As I consider the community of Black Folk focusing upon the greater Los Angeles area, I am saddened by the losses within the past couple decades. Recognizing the despair that continues to plague our people as well as the ever widening gulf between classes, it becomes difficult feel a sense of accomplishment.
I’m saddened because of the resources I felt during the 60’s and 70’s are in many ways unavailable to families during decades of the 2000’s. Much of the familial and civic pride prevalent during that period, despite oppression and civil unrest, are not nearly as apparent as the domestic violence, child abuse, and foster care that feed the homelessness of transitional age youth.
